Your Ultimate Internship Shopping Guide

Ultimate Internship Shopping List

I have some really exciting news that I'd love to share with everyone! I just got an internship on the Sales team at www.StyleCaster.com! The office is right down the street from me and it's an amazing environment, so I'm super excited to start on Monday. This internship brought up the question, what the hell am I going to wear? So, naturally, I had to go on a big of a shopping spree. Here's my guide for all the items you should stock your closet up with before starting your internship!

great, classic dresses: My internship doesn't have a dress code, but I'd still like to dress up as much as possible to keep myself looking presentable and professional. I'd advice bright dresses that are simple and classic, nothing too extreme. You want to make an impression, but not look like you're trying too hard.

a great pair of flats: I, personally, would choose flats to splurge on. If you're going to be running errands and fetching coffee, you'll want to be comfortable. Nothing is worse than sore feet when you still have to stand on them for the rest of the day. I wouldn't advice getting a cheap pair of flats because if you're planning on doing a lot of running around, you want shoes that won't give out on you and look worn after only a few times wearing them.

a simple & classic blazer: In my opinion, a plan black blazer and a plain white blazer are two things you MUST have in your closet. These can be thrown over a graphic tank/tee with jeans and you'll instantly look more polished than you did with just a tee and jeans on. Also, if you need to look very professional, blazers are the key to your problem.

colorful chiffon shirts: These adorable, girly, and simple chiffon tops seem to be all the rage right now, and lucky for us, they're perfect to wear to work. These can easily be dressed up or dressed down. Wear one with dress pants or with a skirt, and you'll look professional and stylish all at the same time.

a good pair of heels: When you aren't wearing flats, or when you know you'll have a slow day, a stylish pair of heels are great to wear to your internship. They'll keep you looking super stylish and professional. I wouldn't suggest sky-high-7-inch heels, maybe a small heel, or a cute ankle bootie would be ideal.

flowy skirts: Instead of sticking with the simple pencil skirt, go a little girly-er and choose a flowy skirt. Something lacy or with a print on it would be perfect for the upcoming Spring season.

a big, classy bag: As an intern, you'll more than likely have to carry around tons of papers, notebooks, to-do lists, your computer, etc, so a big, classic bag is one of the key items you should invest in. Go with a bag that can fit a paper in it without folding (you'll have nice, un-crumpled papers when you arrive at your destination).

classic, but bold makeup: When interning, you'll want to make beauty statements, but nothing too risky. Try a basic red or pink lip with natural eyes. I wouldn't recommend anything too bright or bold.

bright and colorful jewelry: Jewelry with absolutely be your best friend when buying clothes. Obviously when you're interning, you're on a college student's budget (which we all know is never a lot). Instead of buying tons of new pieces of clothing, buy some bright and unique jewelry. This way each outfit will look a little bit different from the last, and you can always keep up with trends this way!
